The universal motorcycle helmet law debate has a new talking point after a study concluded that organ donation increases 10 percent after a helmet law is repealed. The motorcycle helmet study reads, in part:

Proposed law sparks debate in preventing drunk driving accidents

A proposed resolution now making its way through to the Ohio Statehouse takes a new view on how to prevent drunk drivers from taking the road. HB 469, "Annie's Law", is a new proposal sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving which would require the installation of an ignition interlock device into the vehicles of any person convicted of drunk driving. The ignition interlock device is essentially a Breathalyzer machine designed to disrupt the ignition mechanism of a car once it detects the odor of alcohol. The contraption is usually installed near the driver's seat and intended for the driver to blow into it before it will allow the car to start.

Firefighter amputee undaunted by motorcycle accident

Car accident on Interstate 71 in Ohio claims 1 life

On Friday, July 11, at about 5:52 p.m., a car accident occurred on Interstate 71 in Ohio near the US 36/37 exit. The accident involved three vehicles and caused the interstate to be closed for many hours. While alcohol is not believed to have been a cause of this Ohio car accident, troopers did say that charges are pending against the at-fault driver.

Alarming series of bicycle accidents in Cleveland, Ohio

An alarming trend is happening in Cleveland, Ohio, between motorists and bicyclists. A bike advocacy group called Bike Cleveland has reported that there were eight car versus bicycle collisions in June. The extent of the injuries to the bicyclists ranged from relatively minor to brain trauma and debilitating bone fractures. This recent spate of injuries comes on the heels of a fatal May accident wherein a 36-year-old mother of five kids perished.
