Ohio student charged with driving after underage drinking

When people are young, they may feel pressured to try certain activities before they are the legal age to do so. Drinking alcohol is a common activity that many individuals try before they are of legal drinking age. Though this situation could be considered common, underage drinking is still against the law, and an underage party who has consumed alcohol could face charges.

A 19-year-old college basketball player in Ohio is currently facing a charge for driving after underage consumption. The situation allegedly took place when the young man was reportedly stopped by authorities possibly for not maintaining his lane as he was also given a ticket for improper lane use. It was not mentioned whether the young man performed sobriety tests or if the authorities administered a breath test.

If the accused party is found guilty of the charge, he could face a sentence of up to 30 days of jail time. The allegation that was leveled against him is considered a misdemeanor. A representative for the athletic department at the college the young man attends did not comment on the situation for the report.

If the individual is convicted of driving after underage drinking, his basketball career could be put in jeopardy. In an attempt to avoid a conviction, the young man may wish to present a defense against the allegations. There could potentially be various options available to him in order to create a meaningful defense, and information on Ohio criminal proceedings relating to his case could be beneficial.
