Car accident on Interstate 71 in Ohio claims 1 life

by | Jul 15, 2014 | Car Accidents

On Friday, July 11, at about 5:52 p.m., a car accident occurred on Interstate 71 in Ohio near the US 36/37 exit. The accident involved three vehicles and caused the interstate to be closed for many hours. While alcohol is not believed to have been a cause of this Ohio car accident, troopers did say that charges are pending against the at-fault driver.

The accident occurred when a 28-year-old woman crossed from the left northbound lane into the center lane. Her vehicle crashed into the rear of a 31-year-old man’s vehicle, which then struck a 52-year-old man’s van. Upon that impact, the 31-year-old’s vehicle ended up on its side, sliding across roadway. The driver of the van was able to stop in the center lane.

The 31-year-old died at the scene of the accident. The other two drivers were injured; however, the extent of those injuries were not reported. It is expected that both of them will survive. The investigation is ongoing into this fatal accident Even if criminal charges are not filed against the at-fault driver, the family of the man who was killed and the other injured man may be able to seek compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering and other damages.

Because there are time limits – called a statute of limitations – on how long parties have to file suit in a personal injury case, it’s important that such a case be filed in a timely manner. An experienced Ohio car accident attorney can provide valuable advice on such matters, such as who to name as a defendant and for which claims to sue.
