Neal D. Schuett was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He earned his bachelor's degrees in Management Information Systems and Religious Studies from the University of Iowa and received his law degree from the University of Iowa, College of Law.

Neal relocated to the Oxford in 2009 to join Haughey & Niehaus LLC; his wife earned her Master's degree at Miami University while the family lived in Oxford. In the fall of 2010, Neal joined the Redhawk family when he began teaching Business Legal Studies courses and coaching mock trial at Miami University. Neal helped pioneer the Legal Writing program at Miami University in 2013.

While at Haughey & Niehaus LLC, Neal has helped to cultivate the firm's appellate practice to compliment its thriving civil and criminal litigation practices. Since 2010 Neal also has served as a part-time public defender for the Butler County Court of Common Pleas in Hamilton, Ohio, handling felony criminal charges.

When Neal isn't practicing law and teaching at Miami University, he also serves as a member of the American Mock Trial Association Board of Directors and the Academy of Legal Studies in Business. He lives in Butler County with his family.
